What to watch out for

• Buyers pay a 3.6% Buyer Protection fee at checkout on top of your price; it does not come out of your payout.
• Shipping is often the biggest variable in your Mercari margin. A $9 label on a $25 item matters more than the selling fee.
• Promoted listings and Smart Offers cut your price — a 10% promotion is a 10% margin hit on top of the selling fee.
